NEW YORK (MarketWatch)— The first blizzard of 2015 was bearing down on the northeast Sunday, and could drop more than a foot of snow on New York City, Boston and southern New England by Tuesday night.
The heaviest snowfall is expected from the New York City metropolitan area through southern New England, the Weather Channel reported.
Blizzard warnings have been issued for Monday and Tuesday for metropolitan Boston, Providence R.I. and New York City. Winter storm watches are posted for the Philadelphia and Portland, Maine, metro areas.
A mixture of snow and rain is expected to hit the mid-Atlantic region Sunday evening after moving through parts of Iowa, Missouri and the Midwest. Snowfall there was expected to be light Sunday.
